The third edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget has been launched

The Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget is a programme supporting social initiatives of the inhabitants of Oliwa. The aim of the project is to develop the potential of the district, modernize the common space and support activities integrating the Oliwa community. On 11 June, the call for proposals for the third edition of the budget began.

 

As in the first and second editions, also this year the pool of funds allocated for co-financed projects will amount to PLN 18 thousand. 12,000 zlotys were donated by Olivia Business Centre, and 6,000 by Andrzej Stelmasiewicz, a councillor of the City of Gdańsk from the area of Oliwa. Both soft projects (organization of meetings, courses or workshops) as well as infrastructure projects that will permanently fit into the character of the Oliwa space can apply for funding. The call for applications in this year’s edition started on 11 June, and you can submit them until the end of the summer holidays. The announcement of the results is scheduled for the first half of September 2022.

 

In last year’s edition, three projects were co-financed:

  • Christmas Festival at the Market Square in Oliwa, submitted by the City Initiative Association. It is a social and cultural event, which included decorative workshops for children and adults, joint arrangement of space, a Christmas fair and music.
  • Sports and educational path at Primary School No. 35 with Sports Departments Jan Parandowski in Gdansk. The installation enables outdoor fun and learning for all the little inhabitants of the district.
  • Tai Chi in Oliwa, submitted by the Park On Association. The project included 38 hours of Tai Chi classes for people with Parkinson’s disease, caregivers and people willing to conduct this form of activity.

 

– Funding under the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget is granted to projects implemented in Oliwa, most often by the residents themselves and local institutions, and their selection is made by local social activists, city and district councillors who know the needs of our local community very well, so we are convinced that this initiative hits the mark and contributes to the development of Oliwa. – says Bogusław Wieczorek, representative of Olivia Centre. “In the previous edition, we managed to co-finance a wide variety of areas of local activity and we hope that this year will be similar. Together with the residents, we have managed to create a sustainable program for the development of the place where we all live and work. Adds.

Charity for children from Ukraine

Conferences, lectures, yoga and concerts have already taken place in Olivia Garden, but there has never been a magic show! On Thursday afternoon we were visited by Bill Herz, one of the most renowned illusionists in the world. Over the many years of his career, Bill has earned the title of “King of Corporate Magic.” No wonder – it has performed for almost all Fortune 500 companies.

 

Now she performs for charity for the youngest audience. Especially the one whose carefree moments were taken away by the war. For the past few weeks, Bill has been traveling around Poland, visiting cities where a particularly large number of Ukrainian families have found shelter. He is accompanied by writer R. Cooper, editor of The Atlantic, who describes the places he has visited in order to publish the final report in the next issue. Bill’s performance was co-created by his lovely wife, son, and assistant. They were in constant contact with the audience, and each of their lines was translated into Ukrainian by the translator Anya.

 

Over 120 people took part in both screenings. There were toddlers taking their first steps, preschool toddlers and adult schoolchildren. More than one face opened in surprise.

 

Our guests and artists were impressed by the garden, the viewing floor and the atmosphere. We, on the other hand, are impressed by Bill’s incredible energy, humor and magic.

 

The third edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget has ended!

Another pool of money goes to the inhabitants of Oliwa. We have completed the third edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget.

 

Projects in the field of neighbourhood integration, public recreational infrastructure and creative workshops for children are the projects that received funding from this year’s edition of Olivia’s neighbourhood budget, the results of which were announced on 15 September during the Olivia Festival.

 

The Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget (OBS) is an initiative to support projects important to the residents of Gdańsk Oliwa. Since 2019, residents of the district, educational institutions and public benefit organizations have been submitting their ideas for the development of Oliwa – the place where the Olivia Centre is also located. OBS was established on Olivia’s initiative, but its fund also includes one of the Gdańsk councillors, a local cultural animator Andrzej Stelmasiewicz. All previous editions of the neighbourhood budget have made it possible to co-finance projects with a total value of nearly PLN 50,000. Golden.

 

In this year’s edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget, a wide variety of projects were submitted, which covered areas such as integration, physical activity and education. Their initiators were both local social activists, scientists and residents of the district joined in groups.

 

The jury, consisting of councillors of the Oliwa district, teachers, cultural creators, local entrepreneurs and representatives of the Olivia Centre, decided to co-finance three projects: Sportowy Gaj, Neighbourhood in the Gate and Puppet Making Workshops. The first one involves the installation of publicly available physical exercise equipment on the premises of Primary School No. 35, providing training equipment for both the school’s students (during lessons) and other residents of Oliwa during non-school hours. The second one involves the organization of integration meetings in the autumn and winter period, providing an attraction for the youngest residents of the district, seniors, as well as guests from Ukraine who have settled in Oliwa. The third project that received funding is a puppet making workshop for a puppet theatre, which will take place in the Oliwa Library, Primary School No. 35 and the First Social Primary School at ul. Polanki 11 in the period from September 2022 to May 2023.

 

  • Sportowy Gaj is an infrastructure project submitted by Primary School No. 35 with Sports Departments in Gdańsk Oliwa.

 

  • Neighbourhood in the gate – a project submitted by Aniela Zienkiewicz, councillor of the Oliwa district, and Maja Grabkowska, social geographer, assistant professor at the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management of the University of Gdańsk.

 

  • Puppet making workshops dedicated to the youngest inhabitants of Oliwa. It is an open art project aimed at children of early school age, which will be carried out periodically in the Oliwa Library, schools and a temporary home for Ukrainian children and their mothers at ul. Wita Stwosza 23.

 

“This year’s edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget was full of very well-thought-out and well-prepared projects ,” says Bogusław Wieczorek, Olivia Centre’s plenipotentiary, a member of the jury of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget. – During the jury’s deliberations, we had to devote a lot of time to discussing their importance for the local community, because, as every year, we wanted to co-finance projects that were diverse in their nature, and at the same time important for the residents of Oliwa. I believe that, as in previous years, this year’s selected projects will be noticed by the residents and will significantly contribute to meeting their needs.

The first(s) win!

Around the world, October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Monthpeople struggling with the disease. The distinctive pink ribbon, the international symbol of the fight against breast cancer, lit up Olivia Star’s façade on the first day of the month and will shine again twice more: on October 15 and 31. Once again, we want to remind the residents of the Tri-City about life-saving prevention.

 

On behalf of the Energa Group Volunteers and the Orlen Foundation, we would like to invite you to participate in educational events and events supporting people affected by cancer, as part of the “First Ones Win!” campaign. You can show your support by participating in the pink ribbon run, prevention workshops, or sewing pillows for women undergoing chemotherapy. Together we can do more!

It is a symbolic march with which we want to express solidarity and support for people affected by breast cancer. Among our Residents there are also oncological patients. Let’s show that we keep our fingers crossed for them and support them with warm thoughts!

 

Each participant of the march will receive a pink ribbon, symbolizingall over the world fight breast cancer and a sweet, pink cupcake. During the event, bras will be collected, which will be handed over for recycling, and the funds obtained will support the activities of the “Support at the Start” foundation and the Polish Amazons Social Movement association.

Educational workshops

We invite you to a free workshop with Lidia Dyndor, known in the media as “OnkoFitka Lidka”. The educator will conduct workshops on breast prophylaxis and self-examination. During the 1.5-hour meeting, participants will have the opportunity to work with the use of special, proprietary suits for learning how to examine breasts. – A lot of women don’t get tested because they don’t want to find anything. During trainings I try to demystify it. We examine ourselves not to find something, but to make sure that everything is fine – says OnkoFitka Lidka.

Sewing heart pillows

You don’t have to be a master tailor to join in sewing. You don’t have to have a whole hour – you can just drop by for a moment. The materials will already be partially prepared, and the task of the participants will be to complete the filling and finish the pillow with thread. The shape of these unique pillows is not only symbolic, in addition to comfort, the pillows support the convalescence of patients after mastectomy. All sewn hearts will be given to patients oncology during chemotherapy.

Photography Exhibition

On this day, the Sky Club (Olivia Tower, 12 p.) will host an exhibition of photographs depicting women undergoing treatment and those who have won the fight against cancer. The exhibition was organized as part of the “Feel Yourself” campaign, encouraging women to self-examine their breasts. One of the protagonists of the exhibition is our guest, educator Lidia Dyndor.

Tests in a mobile vehicle

A modern mobile vehicle will be erected in car park C in Olivia Centre, in which every woman who has been registered in advance will be able to undergo a specialist and quick examination. It was an amazing concert of combined choirs! The Olivia Centre Choir under the direction of Wiktoria Pagieła and the Chamber Choir under the direction of Małgorzata Kuchtyk have once again invited you to join us on a musical journey. This time we were swaying to the rhythm of hits in Olivia Garden.

 

The repertoire includes well-known and popular pieces from the genre of popular music, sung to the accompaniment of Adam Pietrzak – piano / keyboards and Jarosław Stokowski – double bass / bass guitar. This train takes you on a journey without a ticket!

 

About the Chamber Choir
We are a vocal-instrumental ensemble. We play and sing songs by various authors and in different musical styles – from gospel to the most popular songs of The Beatles or Stevie Wonder. Our mission is to have fun and infect others with passion and energy. The beginnings of the choir date back to 2007, but we have been singing in the form we have been singing in today since 2009. During this time, we played in various places – the Baltic Philharmonic, the cultural centre in Kartuzy, the Sheraton Hotel, the Forest Opera, cafes and restaurants. In 2011 we released the album “Tuesday 17.30”, which includes m.in. “A Song Is Good for Everything” by the Old Men’s Cabaret or the jazz standard “On the Sunny Side of the Street”. In January 2017 we premiered our latest album “10/20”, where we present our arrangements of songs such as “Sweet dreams” by Eurythmics or “Hotel California” by Eagles.

 

About the Olivia Centre Choir
The Olivia Centre Choir under the direction of Wiktoria Pagieła is a group of people of different ages, representing many organizations. Their love for music brought them together. Currently, the team consists of almost 50 people and brings together representatives of Olivia Centre companies, such as: Pomerania Development Agency, Amazon, Avaus, Bayer, EPAM Systems (Poland) sp. z o.o., Energa from the ORLEN Group, Kitrum, Lyreco, O4 Coworking, PKN Orlen S.A., RICOH Business Services, Skills Group, Winning Moves. The choir’s repertoire includes mainly popular and classical music, as well as carols and pastorals from different parts of the world. In 2022, the choir released its debut album “Dobre Tony”.

Olivia Centre offers a range of sports and artistic activities, in which an increasing number of residents of the centre take part every year. The location of Olivia Centre on the Baltic Sea provides not only a wonderful view, but also a unique offer of cruises on the Bay of Gdańsk, dedicated to all members of the Olivia Centre community.

 

Olivia Yacht Club , as this is the name of the initiative, brings together not only experienced sailors, but also people who want to start their adventure with the sea in this way. You don’t have to be an employee of the Olivia Centre company to take part in the cruise, the organizers have also provided a pool of places for people without resident status. Cruises depart every Wednesday afternoon, usually from Marina Sopot. A place on the boat can be booked in the My Olivia app or on the oliviacentre.com website.

 

Beautiful views from the high floors of my office are not the only benefit of Olivia’s seaside location. All Residents can easily join the cruises on the Bay of Gdansk, individually or even with the whole team, or you can invite a loved one. Taking part in the cruise does not require any complicated preparations, you book a place, pay an attractive price, and then set off on an adventure from the port of Sopot. I recommend it to anyone who likes the sun on their face, wind in their hair and rocking on the sea waves. ­– says Maciej Zielonka, Function developing engineer at Sii Poland.

 

There are more satisfied sailors like Maciej Zielonka. Qualitative research conducted among Residents (employees of companies in Olivia Centre) at the end of 2022 indicates that attendance in offices is increasing on sports activity days. Despite the fact that hybrid work has recently gained in importance, we recorded 45% higher attendance in our buildings than in 2021 and the highest number of events in history organized at the Olivia Centre. This would not have been possible without Olivia’s community.

Super Kids in Olivia!

We were visited by super kids! Those who want to do more and who have big hearts. Children who sold lemonade, homemade jewelry, walked their dogs to earn some money for holidays, or to help animals in a shelter… Their creativity, ingenuity and hearts have been noticed and appreciated. Grzegorz Neumann from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Gdańsk organized a mega day for them. We could also participate in this day and make it one of the best holiday days, at least we hope so.

 

There was pizza and lemonade on the 32nd floor of Olivia Star, there were workshops on entrepreneurship and creating a business plan, there were gifts and there were also – this time for us and our Residents – fantastic gifts from the kids: delicious lemonade and beautiful bracelets, the work of ten-year-old Julia.

 

Thank you and we are very happy that we could join this campaign. We are full of admiration for Zuzia, Wiki, Kacper, Julia and the volunteers working as part of the Youth Forum – AKTYWNI.

#RazemMozemyWiecej, together with: Hotel Admirał, Żegluga Gdańska, Forum Gdańsk, City Fit, Speednet and Zdunek Group, which not only helped to organize the workshops, but also prepared prizes and other holiday attractions for children. In addition, food was also donated to the Promyk animal shelter!

Pinktober in Olivia. Tie a ribbon with us!

The distinctive pink ribbon, an international symbol of the fight against breast cancer, will illuminate Olivia Star’s façade on October 16 , the day of our event, and just after the European Breast Cancer Day. Once again, we want to remind the residents of the Tri-City about life-saving prevention. That’s not all. Once again, Olivia is involved in the ” First Ones Win” campaign, which is a grassroots initiative of amazing ladies – Natalia Cebula, Magdalena Pakmur, Ewa Opiela and Kamila Dymowska, who work for Energa, part of the ORLEN Group.

 

The project is substantively supported by the
Pink Butterfly Association
 and the
Breast Disease
 Center at the University Clinical Center. The campaign is part of Pinktober’s global campaign to promote breast cancer prevention, traditionally held in October. The aim of the “First Ones Win” campaign is to change the perception of breast cancer and the fear of the disease and its treatment, as well as to ensure that cancer is treated as a disease that can be prevented by regular check-ups.

Tie a ribbon with us, or the Pink Ribbon

It is in fact a walk, a symbolic march with which we want to express solidarity and support for people affected by breast cancer. Among our Residents there are also oncological patients. Let’s show that we keep our fingers crossed for them and support them with warm thoughts!

 

This year, we will try to set the route in such a way that its course resembles the shape of a tied ribbon, hence the motto. The symbol of the ribbon, weather permitting, will be drawn on the patio by children from our White Kitten Olive Kindergarten.

 

Participants will receive a warm-up coffee from Santander, a sweet treat and “anti-stress” in the shape of a woman’s breast.

 

On the patio from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m . there will also be sA special tent that will house m.in. stations with phantoms, where you will be able to learn how to properly self-examine your breasts. There will be leaflets – a cheat sheet on how to get tested along with information on where to go for help.

 

At the end, as usual, we will take a souvenir photo.
