Bicycle Olivia and bicycle Gdansk

Just before the May holiday, on 28 April, a press conference inaugurating this year’s “European Cycling Challenge in Gdańsk” was held at Olivia Business Centre. The meeting was opened and encouraged to ride a bicycle by the Deputy Mayor of Gdańsk, Piotr Grzelak.

So far, more than 130 Gdańsk employers, 36 districts, 25 junior high schools and 15 universities have declared their participation in this, fifth edition of the European Urban Competition. In last year’s edition of the event, the Gdańsk team clocked over 825 thousand. Miles. This year, as the organizers announce, Gdańsk is going for a million! Olivia Business Centre cooperates with the City of Gdańsk to popularize this noble action among its residents.

Once again, Olivia Business Centre is also a patron of the “Bike to work” campaign as part of the “European Cycling Challenge”. Olivia also puts up her team of cyclists as usual:) In the first days of May, they rode over 200 kilometers.

OBC favours cyclists by constantly developing an infrastructure dedicated to them. There are currently as many as 500 parking spaces for cyclists (outdoor and in garage halls) and 5 large changing rooms, each with showers. Enthusiasts of two wheels also have at their disposal over 700 lockers in changing rooms and two bicycle repair stations. During the conference, Monika Bogdanowicz and Wojciech Walania talked about our passion for bicycles.

See where you can “park” your two-wheeler. And where you can make mini repairs:)

How to make kilometers for Gdansk?
– Register on the www.cyclingchallenge.eu/pl website
– download the free “NAVIKI” smartphone app (registration is also possible via the app),
– choose a team – “Gdańsk” and your group – the name of the company, university, gymnasium or district.

It’s a good idea to ride your bike throughout May and record all your trips (to work, shopping, leisure) using the app. If you don’t use a smartphone, you can record your cycling distances directly on the www.cyclingchallenge.eu/pl website You can also keep track of your results on this page.

More on Rowerowy Gdańsk

The European Cycling Challenge is a cycling competition of European cities held in May, initiated in 2012 by Bologna. Last year, thanks to the enthusiasm of Gdańsk residents, the largest team in Europe was created. Gdańsk won for the second time in a row, beating 52 cities from 17 countries, m.in. Dublin, Rome, Basel, Glasgow, Prague, Barcelona and Warsaw. The inhabitants of Gdańsk travelled the longest distance and the most kilometres in relation to the number of inhabitants. This year, Gdańsk defends the first place and the title of the Most Bicycle City. Residents have a huge challenge ahead of them, as 52 European cities have entered the competition again!

Olivia Cooltura invites you to a meeting with Paweł Tkaczyk, “Narratology, or how to create fascinating marketing stories”.

“Narratology” takes you on a fascinating journey into the world of storytelling. We’ll start with the inside of your head… You’ll learn why stories have such an impact on you and other people. Where did they come from? What are they for? When do they work better, when do they work worse? Why do they work at all? How to construct those that have a greater impact on the listener than others.

Stories have their own rules that affect how people react to one narrative or another. Do you want to know them?

What about the form? Today’s campfire stories can only frighten children (and not all of them). Technology has given us new, unprecedented forms of narration that evoke more emotion than a standard film in the cinema. Want to find out where the stories are going?

Date and place: 19 May 2017, 5.00 p.m., Olivia Sky Club, Olivia Business Centre

The meeting will be moderated by Monika Bogdanowicz (Olivia Business Centre)

Admission is free, but due to the limited number of seats, please register. Registration address: events@oliviacentre.com

The author of “Narratology” introduces himself to us in this way:

“Hi, my name is Pawel Tkaczyk and I tell stories for a living. I’d like to tell you how you buy things. Sometimes, as in the case of milk, you may want something that can simply be poured into your coffee or bowl of morning cereal. But when you’re standing in front of a shelf in a store that has ten, twenty types of milk on it, which one are you going to choose? What goes on in your head just before you reach for any of the cartons or bottles? When you have a choice of ten products that are de facto the same (one milk is no different from another), cost more or less the same, and are equally available (after all, they are all on the shelf in front of you), you stop thinking about the product itself and start considering its history. Advertisers have noticed this a long time ago, and instead of urging you to buy milk, they talk about how happy the cows are who give it.

Imagine that someone has offered you a job at a new company. What do you do to help yourself decide? You are looking for a story about this company.

How do you choose a book? You judge by the cover, by your friends’ opinions of the book, or by the reputation of the author…

Each of these forms is a mini-story. And I build strong brands professionally. Stories became a natural companion and then an indispensable element of my work.

I started to explore them and learned a lot…”

During the break, we also invite you to the Olivia Business Centre, which we have also arranged together with the Nowy Styl Group.

After the break, meetings will be held in three thematic blocks: finance, management, innovation. This is a place like no other. There is nothing like that in Poland! 🙂 And we intend to develop it along with you – Residents of the Olivia Business Centre.

The 1000 square metres (made of glass!) filled with glass and greenery is to be vivid with live from dawn to dusk. We wish that during the day the garden serves you as a place to relax and hold meetings (professional and non-professional), while in the evenings to be the place for all kinds of events that you may think of: educational, cultural, sports … For you and inhabitants of the Tricity.

Then…

YES

We will keep you informed about the garden regularly. And we hope you tell us about the garden.

Already a large group of people work on the garden 🙂 Designers, engineers and a construction team as well as layout and decoration specialists. We also have our own garden communication team. The team in the picture will make sure that you are updated on the developments in the garden (in fact 2/3 of the team is in the picture ;))

Therefore…
