BPO Education Center of Sopot Higher Education and Job Office (a unit of the Gdańsk Labour Office), operating in Olivia Business Centre, once again jointly educated accountants. This time for OBC residents thyssenkrupp and Fujifilm as well as Kemira. The next edition of the “Corporate Accounting” training has ended, thanks to which 8 people have already found employment in the positions of junior accountant. All of them were recruited by the Job Office located in Olivia, a specialized GUP office dedicated to supporting corporate employers in broadly understood human resources management.

– For 4 years we have been helping the inhabitants of our region to gain unique competencies necessary to work in financial services centers. – says Sylwia Broda from BPO Education Centre – Now we have proven once again that it is possible, thanks to the invaluable support of our partners, to gain the skills required by the BPO/SSC sector, find an attractive job and enter, within a few months, a career path in an international corporation.

We have prepared the course in response to the specific needs of thyssenkrupp, Fujifilm and Kemira. They were looking for employees for the position of junior accountant. – explains Anna Legan from Job Office. ” Let me just remind you that all employers based in the city and district of Gdańsk can come to us or our Job Office with their needs regarding professional staff.

If the search for people with a given profile does not bring any results, the Labour Office can organise training with a guarantee of employment under tripartite agreements – adds Krzysztof Kunicki from the Job Office.

The effectiveness of the training, as well as the ever-growing demand of companies from the BPO/SSC sector for new, well-qualified staff, means that the corporate accounting course will be continued in the future. More information about the next edition of the project can be found in the news on the GUP www.gup.gdansk.pl website and on the Job Office fanpage.

The fourteen-week training course “Corporate Accounting” began at the beginning of November 2016. The course was financed by the Gdańsk Labour Office and was run by the BPO Education Center, which is a department of the Sopot University of Applied Sciences and provides educational support for the BPO/SC sector. The course consisted of a didactic part – six weeks of classes at the Sopot University and a practical part – an eight-week internship at thyssenkrupp, Fujifilm and Kemira. During 240 hours of theory, the students gained knowledge in the field of accounting, structure and procedures of BPO/SSC (shared services) companies, financial and accounting systems (SAP ERP) and advanced use of spreadsheets. In addition, they took part in 60 hours of German language classes.

The course completion certificates were received by the participants on 27 February, during a ceremony organised in the O4 conference centre in Olivia Business Centre. On 1 March, the graduates of the training started working in the companies cooperating under the project.

– We try to create optimal conditions for development and cooperation for companies residing in Olivia Business Centre. The “Corporate Accounting” course is an excellent example of effective and effective cooperation between companies and institutions present here. In addition, in the spirit of good neighbourly relations. –Says Agnieszka Zglinicka, SME Director at Olivia Business Centre – The Job Office analyses staffing needs and recruits trainees, the BPO Education Center trains, and our Residents, thyssenkrupp and Fujifilm, as well as neighbouring Kemira, are hiring. The presence of international corporations, HR companies, business support institutions, Job Office and Talent Development Center in one place brings excellent results.

From the very beginning, one of the main assumptions of Olivia Business Centre was its multifunctionality, including support for residents in the field of recruitment. Currently, there are a total of 9 entities operating in the centre (commercial and local government), whose main area of activity is Human Resources.
