This Wednesday (i.e. 28 September) at 9 a.m. in the O4 space, the Startup Sauna will take place. During the all-day session, there will be presentations of ideas and individual meetings with representatives of global businesses. The author of the best presentation receives a free ticket to this year’s edition of SLUSH.

Startup Sauna is a leading accelerator in Northern Europe, created to support the most promising start-ups in developing optimal business models. One of the most important activities of the Finns is a tour of Europe, during which they meet and select local startups for their program, who meet international mentors and receive reliable feedback on the presented idea. During the all-day session, there are both presentations of ideas and individual meetings with representatives of global businesses. The author of the best presentation of the day receives a free ticket to this year’s edition of SLUSH.

A year ago, they came to Gdańsk for the first time (at that time, m.in. Peter Vesterbacka from Rovio, the creator of the cult game “Angry Birds”, was among the coaches. They left with a great impression of the quality of Tri-City startups and with the promise of returning. Now they are keeping their word.

“The return of Startup Sauna to Gdańsk is mainly due to the quality of our market. Their first visit was a great success for our entire community. The gentlemen left impressed. I believe that this year’s edition will be even better.” – says Marta Moksa from O4. Ania Tylikowska from the Startup Zone from PPNT Gdynia adds: “It’s great that we managed to persuade the representatives of the Sauna to come a day earlier and have a day-long workshop preparing for the finale. We will also be happy to host them at our place and show them the most interesting places related to the Tri-City startup ecosystem.”. And Magdalena Strzelczyk from GPNT is glad that the action will be intercity: “We will host a day of workshops devoted to the substantive content of the presentation. We will be supported by companies that have managed to obtain funding and have learned a lot from it. We are glad to be a part of the whole event.” The organizers did not forget about the opportunity for networking: “At the end of the event, we have planned time for informal conversations and establishing valuable business contacts at Clipster,” says Anna Wylężek from Starter.

Among the confirmed mentors of this year’s edition are m.in. Mike Bradshaw, an industry expert associated m.in. Finnish investors: Juha Ruohonen, Torsti Tenhunen, Maciej Grabski – investor and head of Olivia Business Centre and Alina Prawdzik – investor with experience in introducing eBay in Europe.

Out of these fifteen, five startups will get the chance to meet “one-on-one” with each of the coaches. The others will have a chance to talk to each of them together.

The event is organized jointly by the entire Tri-City startup community, i.e. O4, STARTER, Gdańsk Science and Technology Park, Business Link Tricity, Clipster and Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia.

Startup Sauna is an accelerator operating at Aalto University (Helsinki), run by the Startup Sauna Foundation, which organizes SLUSH, the world’s largest startup event. As part of its activities, the Finnish accelerator has already helped more than 150 young entrepreneurs, who have managed to raise a total of $43 million in funding.
