On the 34th floor of the Star building in Olivia Business Centre, on 13 September, eminent urban planners gathered to open an international discussion on the spatial development programme. They analysed the possibilities of using natural water in the operation of the mill and forge in Oliwa, taking into account climate change, terrain and hydrological conditions.

Among the speakers were m.in. Prof. Piotr Lorens from the Gdańsk University of Technology, prof. Pei-Te Chiueh from the National Taiwan University, Dr Alessandro Melis from the University of Portsmouth, Dr Joanna Bach-Głowińska from the Gdańsk University of Technology and Claire Coulter from the University of Portsmouth.

The Crunch project is of significant importance for the city, experts emphasized. The presentations and research allowed us to draw conclusions that constitute a new quality for this part of Gdańsk. The aim of the workshop was to develop preliminary concepts for a coherent, comprehensive development of the area of the Water Forge and the XIII Mill in accordance with the principles of the Nexus Wind Farm.

– OBC is involved in many events. International meetings are of particular interest to us, as we believe that the variety of ideas that arise during such meetings brings benefits to everyone – both for us and for our neighbourhood and the whole city, and is supported by the experience of guests gained all over the world. Today’s practical workshops, the subject of which was set here in Oliwa, passed in a good, creative atmosphere, and the participants showed their creativity. What is also worth emphasizing is the close and successful cooperation with the Gdańsk University of Technology. – translated by Małgorzata Gwozdz, Director of personnel in Olivia Business Centre.
