We cordially invite you to the next exhibition of works of contemporary art presented in the space of the Olivia Star building. This time we are hosting “ZOOM” – paintings by five artists associated with the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.
The Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk is one of the most important art schools in Poland, with a rich history dating back to 1945. Its headquarters are located in three unique buildings in the center of Gdańsk: the monumental Great Armoury, the English House in the Main Town and the Small Armoury in the Old Suburb. These historic spaces not only give the university a unique character, but also inspire subsequent generations of artists. The Academy combines tradition with modernity, offering a wide range of courses and actively participating in the cultural life of the city.
“Zoom” is a close-up of the individual fields of vision and personal painting languages of the young teaching staff of the Academy of Fine Arts. It is also a confrontation of attitudes, aesthetics and creative strategies, which – although diverse – create a coherent and intriguing story about the condition of contemporary painting.
Artists whose works are presented at the exhibition:
Karolina Futyma
Przemysław Garczyński
Tomasz Kopcewicz
Agata Nowosielska
Agata Przyżycka
Accompanying events:
20 May, at 18:00 – official opening of the exhibition, vernissage
20.05–20.07.2025 – curatorial tours – an opportunity to discover works together and reflect with the curator
The exhibition is carried out under the aegis of the Olivia Centre and the Gdańsk Community Foundation.
