We would like to invite you to another meet-the-author session as part of Olivia Cooltura, which will be held on November 21 (Tuesday), at 6:00 pm in Olivia Sky Club (Olivia Tower building, 12th floor). This time, we will be hosting Filip Springer – a photographer and one of the most talented and awarded reporters of his generation. The theme of the meeting will be architecture, which is not only an important background for his reportages, but also becomes their main character. The meeting will be held by Monika Bogdanowicz (Olivia Business Centre).
Springer, born in 1982, graduated from Interdepartmental Individual Studies in the Humanities (archaeology with cultural anthropology) at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He works as a photographer and journalist. He has published his articles, for example, in “Polityka”, “Rzeczpospolita”, “Przekrój” and “Tygodnik Powszechny”. A recipient of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship (2010) and Młoda Polska scholarship granted by the National Centre for Culture (2012). The author of reportage books: “Miedzianka. Historia znikania”, “Źle urodzone. Reportaże o architekturze PRL-u”, “Zaczyn. O Zofii i Oskarze Hansenach”, “13 pięter” and “Księga zachwytów”.
His literary debut (“Miedzianka. Historia znikania” reportage) was in the final of Ryszard Kapuściński Award for 2011 Literary Reportage competition and in the final of “Nike” Literary Award competition in 2012. He also received a nomination for 2012 Gdynia Literary Award. Another Springer’s reportage, “Źle urodzone”, was selected for 2012 Plebiscite in Radiowy Dom Kultury in Programme 3 of Polish Radio in “Book of the Year” category. In 2013, he was awarded with Medal of Young Art. In 2016, he received the Silesia Literary Laurel for his book entitled “13 pięter”. He is also the author of many photo-reportages: “Miało być ładnie”; “Płacz nad rozlanym miastem”; “Nie ma jeziora”. He lives and works in Warsaw. He cooperates with the Institute of Reportage.
